SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE (BE)

-I am …, aren’t I?

Eger cumlenin icerisinde modals, yani kiplik var ise, question tag de aynisini kullanir. Birkac ornek asagida verilmistir.

CAN:

-I can …, can’t I?

-He/she/it can …, can’t he/she/it?

-You/we/they can …, can’t you/we/they?

COULD: 

-I could …, couldn't I?

-He/she/it could …, couldn’t he/she/it?

-You/we/they could …, couldn’t you/we/they?

COULD HAVE:

MUST:

Question Tags (1/2)

Question tags Türkçe'de "değil mi, tamam mı, -de/-da" gibi karşılığı olan ve cümlelerin sonuna getirilen kısa sorulardır. Özellikle de sözlü dilde sıklıkla kullanılırlar. 

Question tags bazen sorunun cevabını öğrenmek için, bazen ise zaten bildiğimiz cevabı teyit etmek için kullanılır. Bu iki tür arasında söylerken ses tonumuzda değişiklik gerekir. 

*Eğer sorunun cevabını BİLMİYOR isek: Cümlenin sonunda, yani question tag sırasında sesimizin tonu artar, tıpkı normalde de bir soru sorarken 'tamam mı?' derkenki gibi. 

*Eğer sorunun cevabını BİLİYOR isek: Ses tonumuz azalır cümlenin sonunda. 

KURALLAR:

1.Tag questions cümlede kullanılan zamanın (tense) yardımcı fiili kullanılarak yapılır. Question tag yapabilmek için cümledeki yardımcı fiili ve cümle içerisinde kullanıldığı zamanı bilmek gerekir. Cümle olumlu ise tag olumsuz, cümle olumsuz ise tag olumlu olur. Bu tür sorularda, virgülden sonra, yani 'tag question'ı oluştururken, yardımcı fiilden sonra daima cümlede bahsi geçen şahıs zamiri kullanılır ('I, he, she, it' vs). 

Örnek: 

He is a writer, isn't he? 

Alice won't come over, will she? (ismi iki kere kullanmak yerine, he/she/it, yani şahıs zamiri kullanılır tag question yaparken).

You work as a teacher, don't you?

She hasn't met him, has she?

2. Diğer önemli nokta ise cümlenin anlamının olumlu olup olmayışı. Yani cümlede kullanılan fiilin manası olumlu ise (cümle normalde olumsuz cümle yapısında olmasa dahi, diğer bir deyişle, cümlede 'not' olmasa dahi), tag olumsuz, cümle/fiilin anlamı olumsuz ise tag olumlu olmalıdır. 

Örnek: 

There is no milk in the fridge, is there?

3. İstisnalar bulunmaktadır. 

Örnek: 

I am clumsy, aren't I? (Değil mi anlamında kullanılan olumsuz question tag cümlelerinde, cümledeki olumlu 'am', question tag'de 'aren't' olur.)

Don't eat, will you? (Yeme, tamam mı?)

Come over tomorrow, will you? (Yarın bize gel, tamam mı? gibi bir anlama geliyor. Öneriden çok neredeyse bir emir var). 

Let's play, shall we? (Bu bir öneri niteliğinde, 'haydi oynayalım, ne dersin' gibi bir anlamı var. Let's ile olanlarda 'shall' gelir.)

They used to visit us, didn't they? (Eskiden bizi ziyaret ediyorlardı, değil mi?)
